1. Do you provide a guarantee?
We absolutely guarantee that you will be thrilled with both your photographs and our service to you. You will probably have friends and relatives commenting at your wedding about how nice the photographer is and how easy he is to work with. You will be thrilled with how we represent you and your family at this important day in your life. Then, you will be thrilled with the images we create for you, and with the completed Art Book. If not, we will do whatever is necessary to see to it you are thrilled. And, if we can not thrill you, then of course, we will refund all your money. It's as simple as that, although we have never had this happen in our 24 years of servicing brides and their families.

2. What is the difference between traditional photography and photojournalism?

Although opinions vary on this subject, traditional photography entails interaction between the subject and the photographer to obtain beautifully-posed images, whereas photojournalism simply means documenting your event through photographs with very little, if any, direction by, or awareness of, the photographer. We include a mix of both styles.

3. What is Pictage?
Pictage.com is our on-line image display partner.

4. Do you offer B&W?
Yes. Although we shoot everything in color, you may choose to have some or all of your images printed in B&W, or even sepia tone, which is the old-fashioned look. The B&W and sepia prints are the same price as color.

5. Do I get to keep the proofs?
Yes, both your engagement and wedding photographs will be included in a beautiful proof book by WillowBook.

6. How many photographs are taken at the wedding?
There is no limit to the amount of images taken, and it depends a lot on the length of the wedding and reception, but approximately 80 images per hour.

7. Are the negatives included?

The high-resolution digital files with copyright release are available for an extra charge.

8. Will you photograph the wedding yourself or assign one of your staff?
Unless otherwise noted, I will photograph the wedding myself, along with an assistant who helps with lighting.

9. What is your payment plan?
A retainer of $1,000 is required to reserve your date. An additional amount, based on your budget, a fully-refundable deposit toward your Art Book, is due two weeks before the wedding. Half of any balance is due upon your approval of the album design, with the remainder due upon delivery of the finished album, about four weeks after design is approved. If you approve a design which exceeds your original budget and you'd like to spread your payments out, a credit card can be used for up to 10 equal monthly payments.

10. Why is professional photography so expensive?
Like anything else, you get what you pay for, so prices vary greatly between photographers. Keep in mind as you make your decision, the photographer’s experience and style…would you prefer someone who presents you with 200 images that are all posed, or would you rather see the variety of real moments and emotions that are captured through a blend of traditional photography and photojournalism? A good portion of the expense is the time and effort we expend to professionally crop, color balance, remove blemishes and glass glare, tone down shine, soften lines, whiten teeth, darken the edges of an image to highlight the subject, or hand-tint the flowers in a B&W image. This attention to detail is extremely important and time consuming. We spend approximately 10 hours after the wedding improving these aspects.

11. Do you have any recommendations for other vendors?
On occasion, we are asked to provide reciprocal links to other vendors' websites and are happy to oblige; for instance, below I've listed a wonderful caterer in the Blue Ridge, GA area, an author who offers to write the story of how you and your fiance met, and even a resource to look up photographers by zip code:

And last, but not least…

12. What is the difference between Nelson Photography and other photographers?
In a word, quality. Most photographers settle for a single, on-camera flash to light their photographs. While this may be fine for some situations, a multiple-light system like we use can help to create candids with a three-dimensional look that appear to have more movement and action. If you're looking for something special, something that will make the difference between beautifully-posed portraits with ordinary lighting and those that look like an experienced professional portrait photographer shot your wedding, choose Nelson Photography. You'll be glad you spent a little extra on the most important part of your wedding...your photographs!
